🧾 Instructions for Assistants
We’ve introduced an instructions section for assistants, introducing two levels of customization: Default and Advanced.
Default: Retains the preference options previously available in Unleash, allowing you to adjust the response length, bot activation or tone within the respective assistant's settings.
Advanced: provides free-text instructions to fine-tune the assistant’s behavior, tone, and response style.
With these enhancements, you can create tailored, context-appropriate interactions, ensuring the assistant adapts seamlessly to different audiences and scenarios.
You can provide instructions to tailor:
Tone (e.g., formal, casual, assertive, confident).
Response Length (e.g., concise, moderate, detailed).
Role and Behavior Guidelines (e.g., acting as a professional customer support representative or a knowledge expert in a specific field).
Example:
As a customer support representative at Acme, you are responsible for responding to customer inquiries with politeness and attention to detail, ensuring that each response is thorough and helpful. Please end every message with “Best Regards, [agent name].”
As a product manager at Acme, you are responsible for communicating with stakeholders about feature updates and gathering feedback. Ensure your messages are concise, focusing on how the updates address user needs. End every communication with 'Let me know if you have any questions or ideas, [Your Name].
This feature is available on the configuration page for all assistant types, including Slack, Teams, Zendesk, Salesforce, RFP, and General.

Standard: Slightly longer, usually a paragraph or a few sentences, offering more detailed explanations.
Long: In-depth and comprehensive, often spanning multiple paragraphs or containing detailed explanations.
Advanced:
The Advanced settings allow admins to fully customize the assistant’s behavior, tone, and response style by entering free-text instructions up to 3000 characters. These instructions enable precise tailoring to suit specific use cases or audience needs.
