đź”› Updates to Connecting Sources

We've introduced a new setting that gives admins even greater control over app connections in Unleash.

Previously, admins could restrict which apps workspace members could connect. Now, by default, members will no longer be able to connect apps unless explicitly allowed.

Here’s what’s new:

  • A new toggle under Admin Center → Security → Permissions lets admins enable app connections.

  • When turned on, admins must select which apps are allowed. If no apps are selected, app connections remain disabled—just like when the toggle is off.

For existing Workpsaces, the settings you have in place will not change.

This update enhances security and ensures admins have full control over workspace integrations. 🚀

âť“Changes to /ask functionality

We’ve refined how the /ask command works in different Slack environments to ensure a smoother and more personal experience. When you ask questions in channels the answer is now only visible to you and is not shared with other members of the channel.

When you use /ask in a channel where the bot is invited:

If expert validation is enabled for the channel:

  • The answer will be sent to an expert and once approved by an expert will be displayed only as “visible to you”. This means that no one else in the channel will see the question you asked or the answer you received.

When  you use /ask in a channel where the bot is not invited:

  • The answer does not go through expert validation.

  • The “Looking for an answer” message is visible only to you and the answer returned is visible to you only.

  • This behavior also applies to DMs.

When a user runs /ask in a private conversation with the Unleash bot:

  • The bot behaves like a regular conversation, responding directly to the user.

If the user is online in Slack, the answer will be sent in the same conversation. If they're offline, it will be delivered via a direct message from the bot.

This update makes /ask more efficient and user-friendly while ensuring expert validation is applied only where needed.

âś… Updates to Slack Expert Validation Indications

A new "Expert Validation" section has been added to the Slack Assistant page. Like before, this feature is off by default, but assistant owners can enable it and assign experts from the channel’s members. When toggled on, at least one expert must be selected to validate answers.

New Configuration Options:

  • Choose whether to display the "Answer awaiting expert approval" message in the thread.

  • Enable or disable expert emoji reactions after approving or discarding an answer.

We've updated the approval process: In channels with an expert, the answer—along with any related articles or questions (if available)—will now be published together after the expert’s approval. Previously, related content was sent directly to the user without expert review.

Experts will receive the answer for approval via a direct message from the bot. Unlike before, the confirmation answer will no longer be sent in both the thread and the direct message—only the DM will include the approval request.

This update gives assistant owners more flexibility in managing expert-reviewed answers. 🚀
