# Unleash MCP

Learn how to configure and use the Unleash MCP (Model Context Protocol) to securely connect your organization’s knowledge to LLM-powered applications, enabling secure and efficient access to your company data.

> Note: Unleash MCP is currently only supported for Shared Tenant customers.

ChatGPTClaude

ChatGPT can surface responses directly from your Unleash knowledge base - policies, docs, FAQs, or specs - right inside the chat. Each answer includes citations and links back to the original Unleash document, so you can instantly verify the source. Users only see the information they already have access to in Unleash, ensuring security is maintained at all times.

> **Note**: Only workspace owners/admins can add and publish custom MCP connectors for everyone on their team account.

## Create the Unleash MCP Connector

- Open ChatGPT and start from the chat page.
- Click the **+ button** in the message bar.
- From the dropdown, click **Use connectors**.
- Next to **Connectors**, click **Add source**.
- In the dropdown that opens, click **Connect more**.
- At the top-right corner, click **Create**.
- Fill in the connector details:
  - **Icon**: optional (we provide one).
  - **Name**: e.g., “Unleash MCP”.
  - **Description**: short explanation of the connector.
  - **URL**: `https://mcp.unleash.so`
  - **Authentication**: select **OAuth**.
  - Check the box **“I trust this application.”**
  - Click **Create**.
- You’ll be redirected to the **OAuth page**.
  - **Ensure that you select the****email address associated with your Unleash account**.
  - Click **Continue**.
- You’ll be redirected back to ChatGPT with a message confirming that **Unleash has been connected**.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note**: If you recieve this error message: “This MCP server can’t be used by ChatGPT to search information because it doesn’t implement our specification: search action not found” click the **Refresh** button across from the Actions heading.

### Publishing the Connector to Your Workspace

- In ChatGPT, click on your **account avatar** (bottom-left).
- Go to **Workspace settings**.
- In the left panel, click **Connectors**.
- Switch to the **My connectors** tab.
- Find your Unleash connector and click **Publish to workspace**.

## Using the Unleash MCP

- Open ChatGPT and start a new chat.
- Click the **+ button** in the message bar.
- From the dropdown, click **Use connectors**.
- Next to **Connectors**, click **Add source**.
- Find **Unleash MCP** in the list and **toggle it on**.
- Type your question in the chat—for example:
  - “Show me the onboarding process in Unleash.”
  - “Find the latest product release notes.”
  - “What are our security policies?”
- Press **Enter**.

ChatGPT searches Unleash through the MCP connector and responds directly in the chat with citations. Clicking a citation opens the original document.

Claude can surface responses directly from your Unleash knowledge base - policies, docs, FAQs, or specs - right inside the chat. Users only see the information they already have access to in Unleash, ensuring security is maintained at all times.

> **Note**: While anyone can build and host connectors using remote MCP, only Primary Owners or Owners can enable it on Claude for Work (Team and Enterprise) plans. Once a connector has been configured on a Team or Enterprise organization, users individually connect to and enable that connector. This ensures that Claude can only access tools and data that the individual user has access to. ## Add the Unleash MCP Connector **(Owners and Primary Owners)**

- Navigate to [Admin settings > Connectors](https://claude.ai/admin-settings/connectors).
- Click **Add custom connector** at the bottom of the section.
- Add your connector's remote MCP server URL:
  - **Name**: e.g., “Unleash MCP”.
  - **URL**: `https://mcp.unleash.so`
- Finish configuring your connector by clicking **Add**.

## Using the Unleash MCP Connectors

- Open Claude and start a new chat.
- Click **Connect your tools to Claude** under the message bar and then **Manage Connectors**.
- Click **Connect**, next to the Unleash connector.
- Authenticate to your Unleash account (only the first time).
- Go back to the chat and type your question - for example:
  - “Show me the onboarding process in Unleash.”
  - “Find the latest product release notes.”
  - “What are our security policies?”
- Press **Enter**.

Claude searches Unleash through the MCP connector and responds directly in the chat.
